Advisor to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Igor Kimakovsky, told TASS that the Russian military spotted American Abrams tanks near the contact line northwest of Avdiivka. According to him, the appearance of Abrams tanks in this direction has been recorded for the first time.
Igor Kimakovsky also reported that Ukrainian troops are increasing the use of unmanned aircraft in the Avdiivka direction. The day before, Mr. Kimakovsky wrote in his Telegram channel that “the enemy is taking revenge for failures by shelling our settlements.”
On February 23, Forbes columnist David Ax reported that in the Avdiivka direction, the Russian military destroyed, among other things, a rare engineering armored vehicle M1150 Assault Breacher based on Abrams, received by the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the United States. As of August 2023, the Pentagon transferred 186 Bradley combat vehicles, 189 Stryker combat vehicles, and 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
