Classes are conducted in three specialized sports schools, and football departments are opened in three more institutions. Street football grounds are also involved. Maxim Kleshchevnikov, head of the department for physical culture and sports of the Chelyabinsk administration, spoke about the development of this sport at a press conference of the Granada Press media holding.
According to Maxim Kleshchevnikov, in Chelyabinsk about three thousand children are involved in football sections, and about 200 of them are girls. There are 62 coaches working in sports schools. In addition, they instill a love for sports and football, in particular, on courtyard playgrounds.
“In addition to the development of municipal sports schools, active work is being carried out to popularize and promote football in courtyard playgrounds. Today in Chelyabinsk there are eight such sites on which artificial football turf is laid,” emphasized Maxim Kleshchevnikov, head of the department for physical culture and sports of the Chelyabinsk administration.
In turn, the coach of the Sports City Municipal Budgetary Institution Vasily Mordvinov spoke about working with Chelyabinsk children in the courtyards. He noted that there are also many people who want to play yard football.
“We used to play in the courtyards on the asphalt, and we would scrape off our knees. And now there is artificial turf everywhere. We have eight artificial turf courts, so it’s not surprising that we have champions growing up and taking prizes,” the speaker said.
Nine functional teams have currently been formed in the courtyards. Championships are held inside the Sports City Municipal Budgetary Institution. On average, about a hundred children participate in these sports tournaments in the spring, summer and fall. A coach is assigned to each site. Classes are held five times a week for free.
