About the updated FC Tver and the internship at Atletico Madrid: an interview with the team coach Mikhail Pilipko

The start of the new football season turned out to be very difficult for Tver. After 7 matches, our team has seven points and 7th place in the standings.

After the results of recent seasons, this position of the team is far from the expectations of the fans. But there are objective reasons for everything. MK in Tver met with the new head coach of Tver Mikhail Pilipko at the Metalist Palace of Culture. The specialist was in a hurry to go to training, there was another championship game ahead, so we managed to ask only the main questions.

New team and work in “combat conditions”

Mikhail Yurievich signed a contract with the club on July 6. And he got, as they say, out of the fire and into the frying pan. The details of the signing of the agreement with the Tver team did not reach the “broad masses”.

– Mikhail Yurievich, how did the offer from Tver come about? Were there other career options?

– There were blueprints, but the specifics came only from Tver. The sports director called and offered to meet. In two days we agreed on all the conditions. I immediately agreed, because I know that the club has been in the lead for the last two years. There was no doubt. The agreement was signed for a year. In general, my expectations were confirmed. Working conditions are good.

A specialist, one might say, is building a team from scratch. There were very serious reshuffles, and only two players remained in the club from the old squad – Anton Fedyushkin and Danila Ananko. The rest of the players are new.

As Mikhail Yuryevich himself says, the work was carried out in “combat conditions.” In parallel with the selection work, the team had to stage the game. In early August, matches were played with Chertanovo and Murom. In each of the games, the balls were conceded at the very end, but this happened for different reasons.

Let’s just say they are different stories. With “Chertanovo” we were losing by one goal, and we went forward with great forces. At the last minute, we missed a quick oncoming attack, leaving literally one defender and goalkeeper in defense. As for the game with Murom, that’s another story. The game was hard, but we survived for 90 minutes. We tried to keep the gate intact and tried to impose our game. But there was not enough experience to survive, to play to zero, – the coach commented on the results of two meetings.

After that, on August 14 there was a game with Tekstilshchik, and on August 21 – with Znamya Truda. In the first match, our players conceded three unanswered goals and lost. The second game was the complete opposite. Our team scored five goals against the opponent and won the biggest victory of the season. A hat-trick was scored by midfielder Ilya Gomanyuk, and Nikita Frasinyuk and Artem Ziyaisov scored once more. During the interview, the coach said that he continues to look for the best combinations in the offensive line. Judging by the last game, the motion vector is set correctly.

Teamwork

Psychology plays a role in sports comparable in importance to the skill of the game. It is so great that even sports psychology has appeared. This is a branch of psychological science that studies the characteristics of a person acting in the specific conditions of sports activities. She also studies the interaction of mentors with wards.

– I try to build a relationship of trust, but with discipline. I am committed to making it playful and everyday, – the head coach of Tver told about his methodology.

Like any person who plays football professionally or amateurly, Mikhail Pilipko also has his own preferences. According to the style of the game, he likes the Italian specialist Maurizio Sarri, who is currently coaching the Italian Lazio. His teams are distinguished by good ball control.

Mikhail Yuryevich also managed to work with the legendary coach, from whom he gained professional experience.

– As for discipline, I would like to mention Diego Simeone. I once had a two-week internship at Atlético Madrid. Most of all, it was striking that even the world football stars in his team work out all the episodes during the game, – the head coach of our team expressed his preferences.

The fact is that star players often ignore the coach’s instructions and allow themselves some liberties. The Argentine specialist has no such problems in the team. An example, of course, worthy of imitation.

There is still plenty of time before the end of the season. I would like to believe that the game will eventually improve and the team will achieve the results indicated by the head coach. We believe in the team!
