The share of women among the unemployed in Russia is 49.4%, said the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, Nina Ostanina, at the round table of the committee on the topic “Legislative support for the National Strategy of Action for Women for 2023-2030 and proposals for the action plan for its implementation.”
According to the deputy, a woman in the Russian Federation, on average, looks for a job much longer than a man – about seven months. Ms. Ostanina also made a presentation at the round table, which indicated that in the field of education, the share of women is 82.4%, and in the field of health and social services – 79.8%.
Olga Batalina, First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, who was present at the meeting, said that women make up about half of those employed in the Russian economy, but the gap with men in wages remains significant – almost 28%, although it is gradually decreasing.
Ms. Batalina said that over the past five years, the categories of women for whom vocational training and additional vocational education are being organized have been expanding. Now these categories include all unemployed women who have children of preschool age, the deputy minister said.
According to Ms. Batalina, over the past five years, Russia has also managed to reduce the list of jobs in which women are limited from 456 to 100, and the employment rate of women aged 20 to 49 with children under the age of six has been increased to 67. ,8%.
