About 800,000 tons of agricultural products have been exported from the ports of Ukraine as part of the “grain deal” since August 1, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on the air of the local TV channel A Haber.

“The grain corridor, within the framework of the agreements reached on it, is operating successfully, there are no problems. To date, about 800,000 tons of agricultural products have been exported from Ukraine,” Akar said (quote according to TASS).

The Turkish minister noted that a total of 36 ships with cargo left Ukrainian ports, while another 39 headed for loading. He also stated that Ankara is closely monitoring the situation and maintains constant contacts with colleagues from Russia and Ukraine. In addition, there is an active discussion between Russia and the UN about the possibility of exporting Russian fertilizers and agricultural products by sea, Akar added.

In addition, Turkey also proposed extending the “product agreement” to the energy sector. “We are ready to do everything in our power to prevent an energy crisis, using the experience of grain operations. We reported this to the UN,” said the head of the Turkish Ministry of Defense.

On July 22, representatives of Turkey and the UN signed separate agreements with representatives of Russia and Ukraine on the export of Ukrainian grain, as well as on assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. On July 27, the Joint Coordination Center for the export of grain began its work in Istanbul. Within the framework of the agreement on grain, it is also expected to remove restrictions on the export of Russian food and fertilizers.

As of August 22, as part of the “grain deal”, there were already transported on 31 dry cargo ships 689,650 tons of food. Of these, 487,463 tons of corn, 28,850 tons of sunflower oil, 50,301 tons of flour, 11,000 tons of soybeans, 76,622 tons of wheat, 2,914 tons of sunflower seeds, 18,500 tons of feed, 14,000 tons of sugar beets.
