About 500 soldiers of the Wagner PMC received veteran certificates – Kommersant

The Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation issued about 500 certificates to the fighters of the Wagner PMC. This was announced by the chairman of the fund, Anna Tsivileva. According to her, more than 3 thousand applications were submitted to the fund from fighters of a private military company.

“Today we have an application for 3 thousand certificates – these are the ones that were given to us by the management of the Wagner PMC, we handed them over to the Ministry of Defense, and now they are being issued,” reports Ms. Tsivileva. TASS. According to her, the issuance of certificates to fighters of the Wagner PMC becomes a precedent and equalizes all participants in a special military operation.

“We will continue this work, it has just begun, and I think that in the near future all those who submitted documents will receive certificates. About 500 certificates have been issued,” said the chairman of the fund. According to her, the foundation helps collect documents for the assignment of veteran status, transfers them to the Ministry of Defense and provides free legal assistance to SVO soldiers. On Monday, at the Moscow Unified Support Center, the foundation presented certificates to the 32 participants in the special operation.

On December 14, during the “Results of the Year”, Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted the problem the status and rights of fighters of private military companies who participated and are participating in hostilities. He demanded the restoration of the rights of such fighters, but noted that this is legally difficult, since in Russia the actions of PMCs are not enshrined in law and sometimes it is even difficult to establish the number of such fighters. He emphasized that PMC fighters have the right to all the benefits and support from the state that all other participants in hostilities enjoy.
