About 300 foreigners from 10 countries cannot cross the border at the Salla checkpoint on the border with Finland, said Andrei Chibis, governor of the Murmansk region. His words are quoted by RT.
The head of the region blamed the Finnish authorities for this situation. According to him, Russia has organized heating points for foreigners, where they can eat and warm up.
“I hope that the Finnish authorities will also remember this,” Chibis said.
Since November 18, Finland has closed four out of eight checkpoints on the border with the Russian Federation. As an argument, the Finnish side cites a “flow of refugees” from Somalia, Yemen, Syria and other countries who arrive from Russia and request asylum at the border.
