Vilfand: very cold weather expected in several regions of Russia
It is predicted that in the coming days in the regions of the Northwestern Federal District, the Urals, Siberia and the Far Eastern Federal District, temperatures will be 5-13 degrees below normal, which is an anomaly. The media reports this with reference to Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia.
Vilfand notes that during the period from April 3 to April 6, abnormally low temperatures are expected in the Arkhangelsk region of the Northwestern Federal District, with a deviation from the norm of 7-9 degrees, and frosts of up to 20-21 degrees. Temperatures are also predicted to drop by 8-9 degrees below normal in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug and by 7-8 degrees in the Komi Republic.
In other regions, such as the Murmansk region, the Republic of Karelia, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Taimyr and Yakutia, temperatures are also expected to drop below average by 6-13 degrees. For example, in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug the temperature can drop to minus 25-28 degrees. Abnormal frosts are also predicted in the Far Eastern Federal District.
Thus, experts warn of unusually cold weather in these regions in the near future.
