A young woman from Rostov “took” gold at the Russian championship in athletics

14-year-old Rostovite Diana Yakovleva became the winner of the Russian championship in athletics in the category “girls under 16”. The competitions were held in Cheboksary on June 26 and 27.

The athlete began her sports history in athletics at the age of nine. Love for this sport was instilled in her by her parents – Irina and Yuri (they are also fond of athletics and constantly participate in city races). Mom and dad sent Diana to the Youth Sports School No. 1, where she became the ward of the coach Leyla Rzayeva.

“We train five times a week. Each session lasts about two hours. The training program includes strength and running training. But before the competition, we were left with only running,” Diana shared.

The path to victory in the Russian championship was difficult and demanding. The athlete proved her skills by victories in city and regional competitions, and then won the championship of the Southern Federal District. These were just the first steps towards a well-deserved award at the national level.

On the first day of the Russian Championship, Diana showed her best result by running the 800 meters in 2 minutes 10 seconds and 94 milliseconds. He was the best among all the participants.

The final race the next day was a test of her endurance and perseverance. Diana managed to surpass not only other athletes, but also herself, setting a personal record – 2 minutes 10 seconds 16 milliseconds. That confirmed her title of Candidate for Master of Sports.

In addition to winning gold at the Russian Championship, Diana Yakovleva continues her educational achievements. She is a student of the eighth grade of school number 86 in Rostov. Despite the intensive training schedule and participation in competitions, the athlete treats her studies with special responsibility. In the event of missing classes due to sports, she always studies the missed material on her own, trying to keep up with her classmates.

The young woman from Rostov, with joy and pride, accepted her gold at the Russian championship and is preparing for new challenges that will await her in future competitions. Diana’s sports road is just beginning, and she intends to go forward.
