Young chess player from Pyatigorsk Yesenia Gulishyan entered the top 20 according to the results of the Asian Rapid Championship in Al Ain (UAE), the press service of the city administration reports.
An 11-year-old student of the Pyatigorsk chess school played with older and higher-rated opponents. Following the results of 7 rounds, the Pyatigorsk player managed to win games with representatives of Mongolia, Bangladesh, Taiwan and Lebanon, and also completed a draw with a chess player from the UAE.
Having scored 4.5 points out of 7, Yesenia took 16th place among the 60 strongest young chess players in Asia.
