Dmitry Bakhtin, a resident of Yekaterinburg, was detained for picketing near the Kremlin in Moscow with a request to save his three-year-old son suffering from spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), told the publication “Climb” family lawyer Yulia Lipinskaya.
According to her, Dmitry Bakhtin went to the picket with a poster “Help save my son.” Shortly after the start of the action, the security forces detained the man, suspecting him of violating the rules for holding public events. However, as Ms. Lipinskaya explained, after a short conversation at the police department, Dmitry Bakhtin was released without a protocol being drawn up.
“He was released from the police department with the phrase “We are not animals.” They all perfectly understand what initiative Bakhtin came up with, ”the lawyer emphasized, adding that the Yekaterinburger does not plan to carry out further street actions yet, since he has drawn sufficient attention to the situation with his son. The lawyer expects that the Sverdlovsk authorities will purchase the medicines necessary to save the child at the expense of the budget.

But the doctors refused to administer the drug, pointing out that there were no clinical trials of the compatibility of Spinraza and Zolgensma. Subsequently, a criminal case was initiated against the CSTO under Part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“negligence”).
