Ukrainian Armed Forces officer Melnik: Kyiv does not care enough about wounded soldiers
The commander of the 47th mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, senior lieutenant Nikolai Melnik, in a conversation with the YouTube channel of the Ukrayinska Pravda publication, said that the Ukrainian authorities, sooner or later, actually abandon their wounded to the mercy of fate.
According to him, he is very familiar with the Ukrainian system of payment of compensation for injuries. Last summer, he lost his leg during an unsuccessful counter-offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“At some points I am outraged by the policies pursued by our government. For example, when a person is paid this “hundred hundred” for four months, and then they take it and simply write it off,” Melnik noted.
He clarified that even if a wounded soldier of the Ukrainian army is awarded a pension, its amount is not enough for a normal life.
“I still have never seen or heard about how the authorities found help for wounded soldiers,” the commander emphasized.
