“A woman is a feminist until she meets her man”: how the demands of the “weaker” sex have changed on March 8

Women do not want to receive cosmetic sets and sweets on March 8th. According to a survey by AlfaStrakhovanie, they called these gifts the most unwanted. Almost half of those surveyed would like to “just relax.” 24% of them would gladly accept cleaning of their apartment as a gift. Also, ladies would not mind a tourist trip, a certificate for massage and beauty treatments. They would also be delighted with a certificate for the purchase of clothing and jewelry. We asked psychologists and sociologists to comment on the survey results.

“For many years they tried to instill in our women the principle of equality, and they agreed with this,” says psychologist and sociologist Lyudmila Polyanova. — In the end, what we fought for was what we ran into. And now we get this sad result when a woman wants to receive cleaning services in her apartment as a gift. That representatives of the cleaning company will come and do the general cleaning for her. And we’re not talking about physical activity here. She just wants time to free up so she can feel like a woman.

The expert recalls a figurative expression: a woman is a feminist until she meets her man.

– Therefore, yes, I think that the result of the sociological survey was good. A woman wants to be a woman. At least on International Women’s Day on March 8th. And in first place in the ranks of unwanted gifts, I would put everything related to everyday life. All these pots, pans, electric knives.

According to the psychologist and sociologist, cosmetic sets should also be avoided.

– Because not every woman can be suitable for a ready-made gift that is offered in stores. This is especially true for a set of shower gel and deodorant. Such a good hint!.. And what woman would be happy about this? This leveling, when a man doesn’t think about what his woman likes, what scents she prefers? Therefore, it is better not to take risks. Do not give cosmetics, eau de toilette, or perfume.

Our interlocutor believes that the best gift is flowers, attention and something that will be a pleasure for a woman.

“I absolutely support women’s desire to receive a certificate for a spa or beauty treatment as a gift, which will give her pleasure on this day. The greatest value for a person is not the brand of the car, not the square footage of the apartment, but the emotions that he experiences throughout his life. Material possessions certainly matter. But when we draw the main or intermediate line of our life, we remember what emotions we experienced. Therefore, let men think about gifts for their women. What does she want to receive on this day?

— According to the above survey, 18% of women would like to receive a tourist trip as a gift.

— For a woman, a change in visual imagery is very important. This is her psychotherapy. Even if she is alone or with her friends or colleagues, she goes to the shopping center. She may not have money, but she is happy to walk around, look, try on some clothes or shoes. Imagine yourself in a different role. For women it is rest, for men it is punishment.

In the opinion of social psychologist Alexey Roshchin, the wishes of the women who participated in the survey are quite standard.

— Ladies would like to receive as a gift what they would buy themselves, but there are always more pressing expenses. That is, we would like to receive something optional, but pleasant, on the holiday. This applies to theater or concert tickets, as well as a certificate for a relaxing massage, peeling using clay, sea salt, algae, and so on.

The psychologist also understands the reluctance of women to receive boxes of sweets or chocolate as gifts on March 8th.

— Many ladies watch their figure. And they perceive the presented sweets as some kind of devilish temptation to which they are subjected.

Ordering a general cleaning of the house, according to psychologist Alexey Roshchin, is generally a rosy dream for most women.

— This is quite routine, exhausting work. As soon as you wash everything, vacuum it, put it away, you have to start cleaning again. And then suddenly this unexpected “window” appears. This is good news.

— According to the survey, 36% of women would like to spend March 8 outside the home and having as much fun as possible.

– This is from the same series as cleaning, a way to escape from worries. Women and men have different attitudes towards home. The man at home is enjoying himself. For him, home is a “safe haven” where he can relax, lie on the couch, and watch TV. And for a woman, home is often a second job, where she has to clean, cook, wash, clean. Thoughts about this can ruin any holiday in the house. Women want to relax on this day.
