Latvian authorities arrested a TV technician who helped Latvians tune in to Russian channels

A television technician was arrested in Latvia for helping local residents tune into Russian channels blocked in the country, Delfi reports, citing local police.

Latvian police reportedly searched the man’s home and seized equipment for receiving and transmitting television signals. It is reported that he provided services to at least 181 residents of Latvia.

Currently, a case has been opened against the TV master under Art. 280 of the Criminal Code of Latvia – on engaging in business, which is subject to a special ban. The man faces up to three years in prison. Those to whom he installed Russian channels also face liability in the form of a fine of up to 700 euros.
