As a survey by the Mamba dating service showed, more than a third of Russian men intend to celebrate the New Year alone. A quarter of the women surveyed announced similar plans. The results of the study are Forbes.

According to the survey, 35% of respondents will celebrate the New Year with their parents, 27% with friends. 7% will spend New Year’s Eve on a date. 27% of men and 19% of women consider loneliness a reason to make new acquaintances during the holidays. Every tenth person surveyed said they wanted to enjoy being alone.

It is clarified that men feel loneliness more acutely during the holidays – 70% of respondents spoke about this. Every fifth woman is happy without a partner for the holidays. 16% of respondents said they were comfortable being alone. There are more men (15%) who experience sadness and do not fight negativity than women (10%). To cope with the negativity due to loneliness on New Year’s Eve, 34% of respondents watch movies and TV series, and every fourth spends more time with friends. 17% of men engage in hobbies, 19% of women actively use dating services.

Mamba added that 48% of respondents, when looking for a couple for the holidays, trust fate and “believe in a New Year’s miracle.” 8% of men hope to find a match among their friends, 5% of women more often attend various events to look for acquaintances. 38% are looking for a couple on dating sites.

This year, Russians began to buy New Year’s gifts in advance. Citizens thought about this issue back in the fall, market players told Kommersant FM. A quarter of Russians are ready to spend more than 5 thousand rubles on a gift, the Seimer company found out. Instead of electronics and home goods, the most popular categories were New Year’s decor and experiences.
