This competition is dedicated to Alexander Volkov, who is the fourteenth racket of the world, a three-time winner of the World Tennis Federation tournaments, a former director of the Kremlin Cup and an outstanding athlete from Kaliningrad.
Natalya Ishchenko noted that Alexander Volkov became one of the most talented players in the history of domestic and world tennis. He was a co-author of the first victories of the young Russian team in the 90s and a successful coach. The name of Alexander becomes an inspiration for new generations of tennis players across the country. The organization of such a level of competition right in the center of your native city is of particular importance.
The tournament lasts a week, and 70 representatives of 20 cities of Russia take part in it. Among the participants are several masters of sports, prize-winners and winners of all-Russian and international competitions. Men’s, women’s and mixed categories are played. For the first time in recent history, the competition opened with qualifying games before the main draw.
