Moscow’s Preobrazhensky Court sentenced a teenager who killed a young woman in eastern Moscow. The driver was 17 years old at the time of the accident. He secretly bought a car without even telling his father, the owner of a transport company, about it.
As MK reported at the time, the accident occurred on Krasnoyarskaya Street on November 25 last year. The driver of a Toyota Corolla literally knocked a girl off a pedestrian crossing at a speed of over 60 km/h. A second before, she got off the bus. The driver tried to avoid the bus without slowing down, but when he saw the pedestrian, he did not have time to brake. In addition, his car had summer tires, which made maneuverability difficult. The car flew a few more tens of meters before stopping. The 22-year-old girl was thrown into a parked car, severely hit her head and died from her injuries in hospital.
The driver turned out to be a teenager who had just finished school and entered the government financial academy. Toyota was deregistered. The fact that he had a car and a young man became a revelation for his dad, a transport businessman. The teenager did not have a driver’s license, but he hid his purchase of a foreign car from everyone except a close friend. The guy parked the car in different courtyards in the area, periodically reparked it, but never approached his home, so as not to catch the eye of family members. That evening, he and a friend were repairing the Toyota’s hydraulic booster, then decided to test the foreign car in action and went for a ride. The guy thoughtlessly believed that his skills were enough to hold the car on a wet road, so he developed a decent speed and did not brake before crossing.
However, the court took into account the young age of the reckless driver and his behavior at the scene of the accident. As a result, the young man received a 3-year suspended sentence with a ban on driving for two years.
