A student sports festival has started in the North Caucasus

Today, November 22, the XIII All-Russian Festival of Student Sports was launched in the Stavropol Territory. The central venue for the competition was the North Caucasus Federal University (NCFU).

The festival is being held for the thirteenth time and has become a traditional event for student-athletes from different universities in the country. This year it was organized by: the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, the Russian Student Sports Union, the Government of the Stavropol Territory, and the North Caucasus Federal University.

Over 750 student-athletes from 24 regions of Russia take part in the event.

The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin addressed the competition participants with a video greeting. He expressed confidence that the competitions will inspire participants and organizers to new achievements and will allow them to set goals not only in sports, but also in life.

As part of the festival, representatives of universities will compete in such disciplines as judo, mini-football, athletics, table tennis, 3×3 basketball, swimming, computer sports, chess and the GTO all-around. In addition, the program includes a quiz about the Olympic and Paralympic movements, the World Universiade and Russian athletes.

At the grand opening ceremony, guests and participants of the festival were also greeted by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Stavropol Territory Yuri Kovalenko, Rector of NCFU Dmitry Bespalov, Advisor to the Minister of Sports of Russia Roman Olkhovsky, Secretary General of the Russian Student Sports Union Dmitry Kiselev.

“The North Caucasus is a real forge of Olympic champions, which has glorious sports traditions. I would like to note that more than 1,000 medalists and winners of the World and European Championships, as well as about 50 Olympic champions, grew up here, which indicates a high level of development of sports in the macroregion. I am sure that the Festival will be remembered by all participants for its friendly atmosphere, and will also make a significant contribution to the popularization of the values ​​of a healthy lifestyle and youth sports,” emphasized NCFU Rector Dmitry Bespalov.

Every year the festival is held on the basis of higher educational institutions, attracting great interest from students, and is an important event for the development of the youth physical education and sports movement in Russia. The event is aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and promoting Russian student sports.

It should be noted that the national team of the Stavropol Territory also included students from the federal university, who will represent the region in 6 sports.

For reference: the festival is being held in the Stavropol region for the first time. The main venue for the competition will be the North Caucasus Federal University. In addition, NCFU will provide volunteer support for the All-Russian festival, which will be held until November 27.

It is worth noting that over the past years, the Federal University (NCFU) has been one of the flagships of the development of student sports in the North Caucasus.

Currently, the university has 12 sports sections, in which more than 200 students participate. The university’s national teams are regular winners in 5 student sports leagues.

Every year NCFU holds a large number of different sporting events. Thus, last year alone, about 30 sporting events were organized, in which more than 3,500 people took part. In addition, the university is the founder of the league of student sports tourism, in which more than 1,000 students from all over the country take part in competitions.
