The November athlete became the absolute winner of the Ural weightlifting competition among veterans, the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug reported on October 16.
“Pavel Sokolov secured his victory by lifting 118 kilograms in the Snatch and 140 kilograms in the Clean and Jerk. None of the weightlifters who claimed the championship could beat his result of 258 kg,” the report says.
Open competitions of the Sverdlovsk region in weightlifting among men and women of middle and senior age groups were held in Kamensk-Uralsk from October 13 to 15. 109 athletes from all over the Urals took part.
