A strong earthquake occurred south of Kamchatka

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 was registered on April 11 at 23:39 Kamchatka time (14:39 Moscow time) near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a Kommersant correspondent reports.
According to preliminary data from the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the epicenter of the seismic event was located 51 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the Avacha Bay. The source occurred at a depth of about 89 km under the seabed.
An earthquake with a magnitude of up to 4 points was felt by residents of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the city of Vilyuchinsk, as well as settlements of the Yelizovsky district of Kamchatka.
The tremor occurred in approximately the same area where a powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.9 was recorded on April 3.
