State Duma deputy Sergei Gavrilov said that in some forest districts you can legally cut down a spruce if you specially come there and do it under the supervision of a specialist. In some regions this service is free, in others it requires payment, on average reaching 79 rubles.

If you cut down a spruce tree in the forest yourself, the fine can be 3-4 thousand rubles for individuals, 20-40 for officials and 200-300 thousand for legal entities.

You can buy a Christmas tree through the State Services website, Gavrilov said.
