A special pen will monitor the student’s condition

A fountain pen capable of monitoring the psychophysical state of the writer was invented by specialists from the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation Pilot School named after Hero of the Soviet Union A.K. Serov. Recently, their development was protected by a patent of the Russian Federation.

Invented by the military, the pen has three edges and a transparent cap. In the part of the pen, for which the writer holds it, pressure sensors are installed, one on each side. In the upper third of the pen cavity there is a tremor sensor, above it there is a microcircuit with a receiving sensor and a signal processing unit, even higher, directly under the transparent cap, there is a board with three LEDs: yellow, orange and red. Another LED, blue, is located in the middle of one of the faces of the device. The power source is located in the cavity of the central part.

As soon as the student begins to write, the signal from the pressure sensors will go to the processing unit and it will close the electrical network. The blue LED will light up and the laser will start working. Its beam, reflected from the surface of the tremor sensor, will shine into the receiving sensor of the microcircuit. If the sensor starts to vibrate, the microcircuit will light, depending on how strong the vibration is, first yellow, then orange and red LEDs. If all three are lit, it’s time to take a break or change the type of activity, for example, watch a training video or listen to an audiobook. In order to check the health of the handle, you need to squeeze the pressure sensors and shake it well. If all three diodes light up, then the device is working properly. Thanks to this invention, military scientists believe, students will be able to optimize their activities.
