The Muscovite also noted that this attitude towards money is associated with the culture of Protestantism. The girl believes that the Dutch are too thrifty, but with such frugality they do not feel deprived of money. For example, local residents can save on electricity all year long, but at Christmas they decorate their house with garlands that burn all night.
