A Russian tourist who visited Georgia stated that he did not feel any negative attitude towards himself or other Russians from the locals. He shared his impressions of the trip in the blog “LifeeL – Life and Feelings” on the platform “Zen“.
The author noted that before the trip, he saw reports that in Georgia “they don’t like Russians,” and in a number of cases, local residents allegedly refuse to speak Russian at all.
However, during the week of his stay in the country, according to the traveler, he never encountered manifestations of aggression or rejection. Also, according to him, many Georgians are fluent in Russian.
At the same time, Georgian youth speak Russian no longer as well as older generations. Therefore, you should expect that when contacting mobile phone shops or banks, young professionals will communicate with you in English.
“Just be ready for this and do not demand a separate attitude towards yourself,” the author noted.
At the same time, the Russian language in Georgia remains the language of communication between Georgians and Armenians, who often cooperate in the areas of passenger transportation and trade. The author noted that he had repeatedly observed a picture of how representatives of these two peoples communicated with each other only in Russian.
