A Russian from Israel described the situation: no one is going to leave

“They don’t sweep away anything in the stores, there’s a lot of grub”

The world’s attention is focused on Israel. From the outside it seems like hell is happening in the country. However, on social networks, residents of many cities publish stories of peaceful life, as if nothing is happening. A cosmetologist from Netanya says that no one canceled appointments for a manicure on Sunday; a pastry chef from Tel Aviv continues to accept orders for cakes.

A Russian who lives half an hour from Tel Aviv described the situation.

Dmitry lives in Netanya. According to him, the situation in the city has not changed much, except that there are fewer people on the street

“Where I live, it’s peace and quiet, I learn all the bad stuff from the news.” But my friend lives in a kibbutz in the south of Israel. On Saturday he got into a tough mess,” says Dmitry. – I spent the whole day in the mamada, an armored room in the house. Outside the window they were shooting from machine guns. The Israeli army arrived at the kibbutz on Saturday only in the afternoon. So they suffered a lot there. We couldn’t really talk to him; there was practically no communication. And still not much. He managed to send me a message. So while they were sitting at home, they didn’t understand what was happening at all, there was no Internet either. Now he got in touch and wrote that they were waiting for evacuation to Eilat.

They’ve had shelling before, but not on this scale. And the terrorists did not enter the city. Then the residents were routinely taken by bus to Eilat and placed in hotels. Let’s just say it was more like a fun trip. They had a blast at the hotel at government expense. Now the situation is more serious; perhaps there are no longer enough hotel rooms for everyone.

In Netanya itself, where the interlocutor lives, nothing reminds of the disaster.

— Our school classes were cancelled. So far there is information that children may be transferred to remote work. In the city itself, everything is visually calm: shops are open, public transport is running. There are no armed people visible on the street.

— Russians living in Israel are not going to leave the country?

“I didn’t hear anyone leaving.” There are no such people among my friends. Everyone has confidence in the Israeli government. But it feels like the situation is a little nervous. What is unusual is that there is a slight lull in the city; it looks more deserted than usual. On Saturday I went for a walk on the embankment and noticed that there were much fewer passers-by. They don’t sweep away anything in the stores; there’s plenty of food. It seems that everything looks much worse on the news. They call me from Moscow and other countries: how are you holding up there? I feel terribly uncomfortable because nothing is happening to me at all. If I had not watched the news, I would not have realized that hostilities had begun. We are lucky that no missiles reach Netanya. Although the city is located just north of Tel Aviv, where the arrivals took place. But these 20-30 km between cities are of fundamental importance. Well, apparently, the missiles on that side are not very long-range, if they do not reach us.
