A family from Tyumen, Svetlana and Yuri Semenov, won one billion rubles in the New Year’s lottery. Edition “KP” writes that the man bought several tickets back in December 2023. He saved one of them for his wife to give as a gift. He handed it over with the words: “We will divide the winnings equally.”

The drawing took place on January 1st. At one point, the presenter announced that a billion had been raffled off. In a matter of seconds, the ticket number appeared on the ticker and the couple realized that they were the ticket holders.

The Semenov family went to collect their winnings on January 12, after they had collected all the necessary documents to receive it.

The couple said that they have been married for 40 years and will soon celebrate their ruby ​​wedding. Despite the difficulties of life, they admit that they achieved everything themselves, overcoming all the difficulties together.

“We don’t consider ourselves lucky in life. They always worked to benefit society, themselves and their children. We never got anything just like that. I worked several jobs at the same time, and my husband earned money through hard physical labor,” Komsomolskaya Pravda quotes Svetlana.

After tax deduction, the family will receive more than 850 million rubles. The couple have already planned what they will spend the winnings on.

First of all, the couple says, they will buy a spacious home in Tyumen. Also, part of the funds will be given to children and improve their health.

“Perhaps in the future I will open my own speech therapy office to help children with speech disorders. On the occasion of the ruby ​​wedding, I will treat myself to jewelry with a ruby,” said Svetlana.

Yuri admitted that this is not his first lottery ticket: he participates in similar draws every week.

“Lottery is a game of luck. Lucky or unlucky. You should never be upset about losses. It’s like fishing. The main thing is to be calm, not to spend a lot of money, always hope and believe in the best,” concluded the winner.
