The FSB Directorate for the Chuvash Republic reports that the Central District Military Court of Yekaterinburg sentenced a resident of Chuvashia to 4.5 years in prison for preparing to commit a terrorist act. It is noted that the convict was a supporter of the Ukrainian organization “Right Sector” (recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

The department’s message says that the court sentenced a 21-year-old native of Chuvashia, who was found guilty of preparing a terrorist attack; he was charged with Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The FSB clarified that the man was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 4.5 years to be served in a prison or a maximum security colony.

Representatives of the department clarified that the convict shared the ideology of the Right Sector, and in order to set fire to an administrative building in Alatyr, he made three incendiary devices in the fall of 2021 and equipped a hiding place in a wooded area. The man’s criminal intent was stopped by operatives of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for the Chuvash Republic and Mari El.
