In the center of Belgorod, a model reinforced concrete structure was installed to protect civilians from shelling from Ukraine. The correspondent reported this “RIA News”.
It was indicated that the shelter was installed near the Belgorod department store and a public transport stop. This place is crowded because the central city market is located next to the department store. It is clarified that on December 30, 2023, this place was struck by cluster munitions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The structure consists of five concrete slabs fastened together. It is equipped with a roof and an entrance opening, as well as a protective partition behind the opening that protects from fragments. Electricity is connected inside the room.
On January 13, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, announced the installation of additional shelters in crowded places in Belgorod. The city’s public transport stops were also refurbished.
On December 30, the most massive attack since the beginning of the Northern Military District took place in Belgorod. As a result of the explosions in Belgorod, 25 people were killed, including 5 children, and 109 people were injured. Attacks on cities and the region by the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue; on January 13, the Belgorod region was shelled with 83 rounds of ammunition.
