The weather forecaster reported a rare phenomenon in Moscow due to abnormal frosts
In conditions of abnormal frosts in Moscow and in Central Russia in general, a rare atmospheric phenomenon was recorded – ice needles, said leading specialist at the Phobos weather center Evgeny Tishkovets. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
This weather phenomenon is also known as “diamond” or “silver” dust, “clear sky precipitation”. These are solid precipitation, ice crystals flying in the air. They pose no danger to humans.
As Tishkovets reported, such a phenomenon was recorded at the weather stations of Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and others. According to him, this phenomenon is usually recorded in Antarctica and the Arctic.
