A rapid chess tournament took place in Veliky Novgorod at the Kremlin Chess Club. The competition was timed to coincide with Defender of the Fatherland Day, the Chess Federation of the Novgorod Region said.
68 athletes from Veliky Novgorod, Borovichi, St. Petersburg, Pskov and Luga took part in the competition. The winner of the tournament in the main category was Evgenia Satanovskaya, who scored 8 points out of 9 possible.
In the men’s tournament, Viktor Belyaev took the lead, scoring 7 points. In the women’s competition, Daria Osoblivaya won with six points.
Previously “MK in Veliky Novgorod” reportedthat the city stage of the all-Russian chess competition among teams of secondary schools “White Lady-2024” was held in the regional center.
