A rally against the action of burning the Koran took place in Grozny, it was held in front of the Memorial Complex of Glory to them. Akhmat Kadyrov. Mufti of Chechnya Salakh-Khadzhi Mezhiev and Chairman of the Chechen Parliament Magomed Daudov spoke at the event. According to the organizers, who cites “RIA News”, tens of thousands of people participated in it. The rally took place after a Koran was burned in front of a mosque in Volgograd, and the alleged participant in the action, local student Nikita Zhuravel, was arrested.
People came to the rally with posters: “I love the Koran”, “Satanists have no place on Earth”, “He who encroaches on the sacred has no culture and religion.”
“In the current world, when Muslims are surrounded by enemies of our religion, when in any European state the followers of Satanists can burn the Koran, spread all the dirt in the form of LGBT people, we live in Russia, where this is unacceptable,” Mr. Mezhiev addressed the audience (quoted from Grozny Inform). “The one sent by the Ukrainian special services did not escape punishment,” he said.
Burning of the Koran near the Cathedral Mosque in Volgograd happened, according to investigators, no later than May 19. On this day, a video appeared on the Internet in which a certain person (only his hand is visible), being near the Volgograd Cathedral Mosque, burns the Koran. A local resident, 19-year-old student Nikita Zhuravel, is accused of the crime. During the interrogation, he stated that he carried out “the specified action at the direction of the special services of Ukraine for a reward of 10 thousand rubles.”
Central District Court of Volgograd arrested Nikita Zhuravel for two months, and the case was transferred to Chechnya. Before the court session, he apologized to the Muslims.
