A protocol on LGBT propaganda was drawn up at Eksmo because of the comics “Dove Gennady”

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Moscow opened an administrative case against the Eksmo publishing house under the article on promoting non-traditional sexual relations among minors (Article 6.21 of the Administrative Code). Police have identified propaganda in the comic book “Dove Gennady”. As part of the administrative investigation, a linguistic examination was appointed.

“Police officers are continuing efforts to identify the citizens who posted the information noted above,” says a letter from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Moscow in response to a request from State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein. In a letter, published in the deputy’s Telegram channel, the police also report that they asked Roskomnadzor to check whether Eksmo’s actions constitute an administrative offense prescribed in Art. 6.17 Code of Administrative Offenses (“Violation of legislation on the protection of children from information harmful to their health and (or) development”).

According to Beware Media, the reason for initiating an administrative case for promoting non-traditional sexual relationships was a monologue in a comic about the main character’s orientation: “Sometimes instincts take over Gennady. Pigeons do not always distinguish each other’s sexes. Therefore, Gennady prefers to think that he is pansexual (when a partner is chosen solely based on personal qualities.— “Ъ”)”,— wrote journalist Ksenia Sobchak in her Telegram channel.

“Published by the Eksmo holding, it (a book about the pigeon Gennady.— “Ъ”) openly forms homosexual attitudes, although he has an age mark of +12,” Mr. Khinshtein wrote on Telegram. “It is doubly outrageous that the author of the comics is in Ukraine and does not hide the fact that he directs royalties from books to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On his page on social networks, he has already equipped “Gennady’s Dove” in Ukrainian military uniform. But this doesn’t seem to bother Eksmo at all.”

The Eksmo press service informed the Caution Media project that all clients had been sent a mailing about a ban on sales of the book “Gennady the Dove.” “The contract with the author has been terminated, the author is not paid anything. The chain of bookstores “Read-Gorod” checked the availability of the comic book “Dove Gennady”. At the moment, this series is not for sale either in retail or on the comic book website,” the publisher reported.

The comic book “Gennady the Dove” is a development of the web comic created by Ukrainian artist Tatyana Koro in 2016. The book was first published in 2018 by the St. Petersburg publishing house KomFederatsiya, part of the Eksmo holding. The last edition in the Russian Federation was printed on January 21, 2022, before the start of the military special operation in Ukraine. November 1, 2023 publishing house “KomFederation” announced about termination of work.
