In Abkhazia, oppositionists held a rally opposing the transfer of the state dacha in Pitsunda to Russia. As Izvestia and TASS report, the decision to ratify the agreement on the transfer of the Pitsunda state dacha into Russian ownership will be considered in the parliament of the republic on December 27. Abkhaz Justice Minister Anri Bartsits explained that ratification is necessary to eliminate a technical error found in the agreement.
Russian Ambassador to Abkhazia Mikhail Shurgalin said that the agreement does not provide for the transfer to Russia of the land on which the dacha is located. He explained that the territory will be leased for 49 years, and only buildings will be transferred into ownership, the maintenance and repair of which will be carried out by the Federal Security Service of Russia.
