Potentially hazardous asteroid 2020 BX12 will approach Earth on February 17

On February 17, the double asteroid 2020 BX12, considered potentially dangerous, will be at its minimum distance from Earth in a year.

The asteroid consists of two space objects with a diameter of about 165 and about 70 meters. At the point of closest approach, they are expected to be 50 million kilometers from the planet.

Potentially dangerous are cosmic bodies that, at one stage or another of their journey, may end up at a distance less than twenty times the distance from the Earth to the Moon. Despite this designation, the probability of any known large object of this kind colliding with the Earth tends to zero.
