In Australia, a 73-year-old man had to have part of his penis removed because batteries were stuck in his urethra. The Daily Mail writes about this.
The man went to the hospital complaining of pain and difficulty urinating. The pensioner admitted that the day before he had inserted three batteries into his urethra. Moreover, this was not the first time he had done this, but before he had managed to get them.
During the examination, doctors discovered that the man’s urethra had turned black, and he was diagnosed with necrosis and burns. The man had to undergo surgery; doctors were able to remove three batteries with a diameter of 1.3 cm.
The man was discharged, but three days later he returned complaining of swelling of the penis. As it turned out, the necrosis had spread, and part of the organ had to be amputated.
Now the pensioner will be able to go to the toilet only with the help of a catheter, which will have to be changed every 4-12 weeks.
