On February 13, STS will host the premiere of the sports and entertainment show Superninja. In the new project, 175 of the strongest athletes who challenged the most difficult obstacle course in the world will be supported by the top three: video blogger Dmitry Maslennikov, captain of the CSKA rugby club Vasily Artemyev and star of the TV series Cool Katya Valeria Astapova.
The large-scale TV show, which was filmed in Mineralnye Vody, will meet both experienced athletes and stars, amateurs and fans of the ninja movement. The most titled participant in the program was the Olympic champion and three-time world champion in artistic gymnastics Artur Dalaloyan.
“Last year, Russia was excluded from international competitions, so for me participation in such a large-scale television project is an opportunity to challenge myself,” he admitted.
Another star participant, video blogger and musician Yegor Ship, especially remembered the obstacle course: “The track is just right: just right to test the strength of people who came from all over the country. I was impressed by their willingness to complete the track, despite the rain, cold and long shoots.”
According to the Olympic figure skating champion Ekaterina Bobrova, what she saw shocked her: “I trained before filming in a special place with amazing coaches who were familiar with many of the obstacles of this format. The guys took part in the Russian Ninja three times, but then even they were surprised, because the track was different. As they say, life did not prepare me for this. The more interesting it was to participate.”
On the site, Catherine was supported by her husband, and the showman and ex-member of the Leningrad group Stanislav Baretsky was rooting for the famous fitness trainer Alexander Sabanin. Before filming, the athletes actively trained, and some even had to treat difficult injuries.
“A month before participating in the show, he broke his left arm. I spent two weeks in plaster, then took it off, began to develop it. And two weeks before filming, I was able to get myself in shape, ”recalls the hero of the popular TV show Alexander Zadoynov, who also became blond for the STS project.
To stand out from the background of other participants, the athletes worked not only in the gym, but also on their image. The heroes overcame obstacles in the costume of the Grinch, Spiderman, gladiator, Catwoman, genie, basketball team mascot, Soviet physical education teacher. Filming took place in cold and rainy weather, so the track was periodically dried, and the participants were given shoes with anti-slip coating. To keep warm, the heroes practiced on the gymnastic pole, and the hosts danced next to the heat gun.
The creators of the project received more than 2,000 applications from all over Russia. As a result, participants from all over the country entered the fight: a cheese maker, an animal trainer, a fitness trainer for stars, a hockey player, a DJ, a lifeguard, an oil driller, a participant in beauty contests, a train driver, a ballet dancer, a paraglider and representatives of other professions.
They had to conquer a unique track consisting of two lanes of 100 meters each. It took six months to develop a complex structure, fragments of which were delivered by 35 trucks, and three weeks to install. The obstacle course was illuminated by 1374 devices.
To win the show, participants need to go through the qualifying stage, semi-final, final and super final. For a successful performance in the project, the speed and the number of lit rings that need to be removed at each stage are important. If the ring does not break, the competitor cannot continue the challenge. In the semi-finals, seventy athletes compete not only against the track, but against each other as they test in a pair race on a unique double lane. Thirty-five heroes make it to the finals, with only the top two athletes waiting for the long-awaited superfinal. The winner is the one who can overtake the opponent and get the last ring on top of the 26-meter tower.
