On the website of the City Psychological and Pedagogical Center of the Department of Education and Science of the capital, webinars are posted that tell school teachers and educators of preschool educational institutions how to identify speech therapy disorders in children from three to nine years old. The webinars were prepared by specialists of the GPPC and leading psychological and pedagogical universities of the capital.
As the director of the center Lyubov Oltarzhevskaya said, teachers need to identify speech disorders in children as early as possible. And after that, organize classes for the child with specialists, in particular speech therapists and psychologists, because the correct and timely mastery of oral speech is a guarantee of competent writing and reading.
The speech therapy screening “Gift of Speech” has become the main method for determining speech disorders in children. It takes place in two stages: first, the educator or primary school teacher fills out speech questionnaires, fixing the speech characteristics of the child. In particular, communication and grammar skills and speech intelligibility. At the second stage, the teacher-speech therapist draws up a screening protocol and gives parents recommendations on activities with the child.
“Moscow teachers are actively interested in the opportunity to conduct speech therapy medical examinations in their schools,” said Olga Yegupova, director of the City Psychological and Pedagogical Center. – Logoscreening was tested in some educational organizations in the last academic year and proved to be a simple, convenient, universal tool for speech therapy examination of children from the age of three.
