A new date for the opening of a football arena at the Sputnik training ground has been announced in Kaluga. Due to the contractor’s dishonesty, the deadlines were previously postponed several times, Oleg Serdyukov, Minister of Sports of the Kaluga Region, said at a working meeting in the Kaluga government on Monday, September 25.
“Work continues on the construction of a football arena at the Sputnik site. Due to the dishonesty of the previous contractor, it was necessary to postpone the commissioning of this facility. The commissioning of the facility is planned before March 1, 2024,” Serdyukov said.
The arena readiness level is currently 47%. Now work has been completed on the construction of a concrete slab and the installation of window blocks in the administrative building.
The playpen is a long-awaited and problematic object. It is being built on the basis of a football sports ground on Tula Highway, which was built for training of one of the teams participating in the 2018 World Cup. At that time the Senegalese national team was based in Kaluga. The new arena will be used to train sports reserves for football.
