In a rapidly shrinking circle of places suitable for summer vacations, Abkhazia holds steady. Relative cheapness and beautiful nature attract more and more Russians to its Black Sea coast. However, among them there are more and more those who find this holiday truly terrible. We talked with Muscovite Yulia, who swears that it is better to stay at home on vacation in Abkhazia.

– First, a lot of rudeness. For example, in Pitsunda I go to a self-service cafe, I go to the cashier, I ask for khachapuri, and she tells me what other khachapuri, can’t you see, we don’t have electricity? That’s right – on you, rudely, contemptuously, as if I came to her house to beg.

Service in Abkhazian is generally something. So, my husband and I came to a restaurant, it seems to be pretty, everything is buried in greenery – and there is nowhere to wash your hands. I could hardly find the toilet, I had to go to another building, through the backyard, that was another quest. But even there there was no water in the tap – the waiter then only shrugged his shoulders at this, they say, there are often interruptions in water supply. I was horrified – but how do they wash the dishes themselves, hands?

We moved there by car, stopped at a campsite – it is clear that we did not count on any luxury. But this was still not expected … The beds are hundred years old, the linen is divorced, there is no Internet. And around the clock someone cuts the music to the fullest.

But the biggest problem is security. Walking at night or even late in the evening is not allowed. Sitting at home, watching TV – that’s all the nightly entertainment.

Even worse, there are a huge number of scammers everywhere, as well as thieves. The impression that everyone steals! They pester you, they push something, you brush them off – they don’t pay attention to it at all. They tried to foist some jars with local spices on me like that, I kind of fought back, and then I look – there’s no wallet in my bag … And there I had several thousand. We were warned that it’s better not to carry money with you, but you can’t pay with a card everywhere, and leaving cash in rented housing is also scary. Our neighbors lost money in their room, and the owner of a private hotel said that he could not help, that they must have lost the money somewhere. So he said: “Wah, you know how relaxing by the sea? A person cannot even remember where he left what, where he spent how much.

And another acquaintance was robbed on the beach – they dragged away a beach bag. Of course, there was very little money there, but they were very sorry for the e-book and expensive sunglasses.
