Due to a mudflow, train traffic on the Dagomys-Loo section in the Krasnodar Territory was disrupted. Passengers traveling to the resort are transported to Sochi and Adler by buses, reported Department of Transport and Road Facilities of Sochi.
According to the department, the mudflow occurred yesterday, February 4, at 22:47. At night, 22 buses were sent to Dagomys and Loo stations. Passengers are transported to the Sochi and Adler railway stations, as well as to Sochi airport.
How clarified in Russian Railways, a mudflow occurred in a volume of more than 5 thousand cubic meters. m. More than 100 people and special equipment were involved in eliminating the consequences of the emergency. Train traffic on the section was suspended and six passenger trains were delayed.
“The contact network is being restored and the railway track is being cleared. The work is complicated by the fact that the waterlogged soil is not stabilized, and mudflows continue to fall on the path… Russian Railways has created an operational headquarters to coordinate restoration work,” says the company’s press release.
On the weekend, Sochi authorities recommended residents of the resort should take precautions in view of the deteriorating weather associated with the onset of snowfall. The storm warning will remain in effect at least until the end of today, February 5th. In Sochi, heavy rains, downpours with thunderstorms, snow and ice pellets, and wind speeds of up to 20–25 m/s are expected.
