“A Month in the Village” at the Theater of the Moon on Malaya Ordynka

On January 20 and 21, the Great Hall of the Luna Theater on Malaya Ordynka will turn into a country estate. The director of the performance, Pavel Safonov, is looking for answers to questions that are always relevant. How do people live when there is little love in their life? What is more important – rules or inner freedom?
Silence, gardens, meadows, tranquility … But this is only at first glance! After all, the Russian summer with its gentle warmth, clear evening air, cleansing thunderstorms and the scent of flowers becomes the backdrop for love stories. A lot of them will unfold before the eyes of the public. The first sincere feeling, adult and sedate love, unexpected and desperate, even forbidden – all this is in play by Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev.
Pavel Safonov: “… life in its usual framework of reason and customs becomes a prison. And I want to break free and run away over this meadow, and cover yourself with grass. Where there are no walls, no etiquette, no rules, but just summer with its thick twilight and mosquitoes over the fire … Life goes on, it has a lot of different things, but there is no love … that is, air for Natalya Petrovna … is there any sense in such a life and how do you breathe then? How to get rid of it, to heal … And why get rid of it? .. Turgenev’s play is about this difficult summer.
