The opening of the city’s first memorial to the heroes of a special military operation took place in Chita. According to the press service of the regional government, nine fighters from Transbaikalia were awarded the title Hero of Russia for their exploits, seven of them posthumously.
“The memorial was opened with funds from a single Far Eastern subsidy with the support of the regional government and the Russian Military Historical Society. The author of the monument is the sculptor-architect Denis Stritovich, creator of the stele “Chita – the city of labor valor.” The opening was attended by relatives, friends of the SVO participants, military personnel, representatives of city and regional authorities,” the message says in Telegram.
It is also specified that the memorial is located in the central part of Chita, at the intersection of Lenin and January 9 streets.
