A memorial plaque to Anatoly Rakhlin will be installed on Kondratievsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg. It will appear on the facade of the building of the Turbostroitel Judo Club, which initiated the creation of the board, Vice-Governor Boris Piotrovsky said in his Telegram channel.

Rakhlin made a great contribution to the development of judo in Russia, and one of his students was Russian President Vladimir Putin. Rakhlin was also the first to develop women’s judo. In 2008, he was the head coach of the Russian women’s national team.

In the 1970s, he established judo competitions among youths, and in the 1990s he initiated the first Youth Judo Festival in Russia. Today, in memory of the coach, international judo competitions among boys and girls are held – the Anatoly Rakhlin Cup.
