A mathematician has proposed a “formula” for the optimal pastime for a child on an airplane

Oxford University professor of applied mathematics Tom Crawford has come up with a mathematical formula that he claims can calculate how long a child can fly on a plane without worrying.
The formula includes four variables – sleepiness (S), boredom (B), hunger (H) and noise (N). Each of them is a ten-point scale. Under optimal conditions, according to the formula, the maximum duration of a completely quiet flight is 129 minutes.
Crawford suggested allowing children to watch cartoons for 31 minutes, try to put them to sleep for 37 minutes, spend 19 minutes eating and 14 minutes listening to music.
