The first person who had a Neuralink neurochip implanted into his brain began to control the computer mouse cursor with his thoughts. Neuralink founder Elon Musk announced this on the X social network.

“Progress is good: the patient seems to have fully recovered, including all brain functions. The patient is able to move the cursor across the screen simply by the power of thought,” said Mr. Musk. The agency reports this Reuters.

Now Neuralink specialists, according to Elon Musk, practice pressing mouse buttons with the patient. No other details have been announced yet. Neuralink for the first time implanted neurochip for a person on January 28. Prior to this, since September 2023, the company has been recruiting volunteers to test the chips in September. First of all, they looked for those whose arms and legs were paralyzed due to spinal cord injury or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It is expected that a neurochip implanted in the brain will help people control external devices with the power of thought, including, for example, a mouse cursor or a computer keyboard. Prior to this, research on the chip was carried out on animals.
