NBC: a US court found a man not guilty after serving 48 years for murder
TV channel NBC News reported that in the state of Oklahoma (USA), a court overturned the sentence of a local resident who spent more than 48 years in prison on charges of murder, which, as it turned out, he did not commit.
It is clarified that this case was the longest prison term in America for a charge that was ultimately dropped.
“We are talking about 71-year-old Glynn Simmons, who was released by court decision back in July of this year. This happened after the prosecutor’s office agreed that key evidence was not provided to lawyers,” the channel notes.
As a result, the judge concluded that Simmons did not commit the crime for which he was convicted and sent to prison.
