A court in Kazan ruled to expel Chinese student Haoyang Xu from Russia, who ran a YouTube channel about his relationship with Russian citizen Gela Gogishvili. The blogger was found guilty of distributing LGBT information to underage subscribers. His lawyer intends to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court of Tatarstan. The expert notes that in China, a student is unlikely to be punished for maintaining an LGBT blog – rather, claims may arise against him regarding the use of YouTube blocked in the country. At the same time, Chinese Internet users may consider the decision of the Russian court as a manifestation of discrimination.
