Deputies of the Supreme Khural of the Republic of Tyva unanimously approved a bill on the euthanization of dangerous stray animals. About it “Kommersant-Siberia” reported the press service of the regional parliament. According to the document, the animal will be killed if it is confirmed to have “sustained aggressive behavior.” Veterinary experts will determine the condition of the animal, and the final decision rests with a special commission.
The authors of the initiative indicate that the bill is aimed at “ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population, protecting the population from diseases common to humans and animals.” It also involves the organization of measures to prevent infectious diseases in animals and the possibility of creating and using temporary holding facilities for them.
In mid-December 2023, the State Assembly—El Kurultai of the Altai Republic approved changes in legislative acts, according to which temporary detention centers for stray animals will be created in the region. Those animals that are not taken from there within 11 days will be killed.
