Against the backdrop of a difficult situation with forest fires, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov, Minister of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko arrived in the Ryazan region. Earlier, President Vladimir Putin also instructed him and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to visit the regions facing forest fires.
During the day, the area of forest fires in the Ryazan region increased by 3 thousand hectares and now amounts to almost 15 thousand hectares. There are six forest fires. The officials who arrived in the region went to fly over the burning territories. Today they also plan to visit the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Republic of Mari El, where forests are also burning.
About 9.5 thousand people are now involved in extinguishing fires in the Ryazan region, most of the group was formed with the help of the Moscow government. 15 aircraft are also involved.
August 23 government established commission for the elimination of forest fires, headed by Mr. Grigorenko. Today, the press service of Avialesookhrana clarified that the total area of fires in Russia increased up to 110 thousand hectares – a total of 126 forest fires were recorded in the country.
