A French tourist has been arrested in Italy for stealing 41 kilograms of pebbles from a beach in Sardinia. This publication reports La Reppublica.
The Italian customs service intercepted a man while boarding a ferry from Porto Torres in the north of the island to Nice. In his trunk, they found 41 kilograms of stones and pebbles taken from a protected beach in the Porto Conte Natural Park.
Now the man faces a fine of up to 3,000 euros. According to local legislation, it is forbidden to take sand, shells and pebbles from the beaches of Sardinia.
It is noted that 41 kilograms of banned souvenirs were returned to the beach.
